This sermon is directed to anyone who claims to be a follower of Christ.
There is no such thing as a halfway Christian. You cannot be of the world and God. Its one or the other. You cannot serve two masters.
“Dear brothers and sisters, what’s the use of saying you have faith if you don’t prove your actions? That kind of faith can’t save anyone.”
“You Adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with this world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again, if your aim is to enjoy this world, you can’t be a friend of God. what do you think Scripture means mean when they say the Holy Spirit, whom God placed within us, jealously longs for us to be faithful?
“And remember, it is a message to obey, not just to listen to. for if you don’t obey, you are only fooling yourself. For if you just listen and don’t obey, its like looking at yourself in a mirror but doing nothing to improve your appearance. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you looked like. But if you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law-the law that sets you free-and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it.”
If you claim to follow Christ, then you had better act like it. Put up or shut up, so to speak. Put money where your mouth is, walk your talk. Show me don’t tell me. There is no picking and choosing what parts of the Bible you like and don’t like. You don’t get to choose to believe in only some of it. Its either all true or not. Stand by your faith completely, or don’t stand by it at all.
Revelations 3:16
But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!
Look God says he will spit lukewarm Christians out of His mouth. He hate lukewarm Christianity!
For Mathew 5:18 says : For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Not one letter, one word, or one sentence in the Bible can be thrown out. We don’t get to pick and choose what we like. God doesn’t conform to what we want Him to be. God doesn’t change. We change. we are to conform to God.
In fact God hates lukewarm “Christians” (I put quotes around it because these are people who claim to follow Christ but really don’t)
The Bible tells us, these people will be destroyed. Yeah, tough words. Should cause concern for people. Like a wake up call.
2 Tim. 4:3-4 confirms this:
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
And in 2 Tim. 3:8 is also says the same thing.
These people will renounce Biblical Authority. These people are called Apostates.
These are people who claim to follow Christ, or God. for I have seen people who call themselves Christians, but say they don’t believe in Christ Jesus. (Can’t figure out how you can even call yourself a Christian and then say you don’t believe in Christ Jesus.)
1 Tim. 4:1
The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
Jesus even talked about it.
Matthew 24:10-12
And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will deceive many people. Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.
This is why I constantly say that a Christian who renounces Biblical Authority is in trouble. The Bible shows us that its deadly to do this.
Furthermore Jesus Himself talks about when those who are Apostates cry out to Him.
Matthew 7:21-23
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
And Jesus again says the same thing in Matthew 25:31-46.
This is why we as Christians must constantly be in the Word. It is a fundamental and essential part of the faith to believe 100% in the Bible.
So, Christianity is all or nothing. (This is completely different than a Christian who has weak faith) There is no halfway. The Bible is absolute. No ifs, ands, or buts.
So always test yourself in the faith. we are commanded to.
2 Cor 13:5
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
I see too many who call themselves Christians and use the Grace of God as a License to Sin (Rom 6:1-23). I am concerned that there are MANY so called “Christians” (Matt 7:21-22, 23) who are NOT ready to face Jesus on Judgment Day.
So in the end. Christianity is all or nothing. Its either all true or none of it is.
