Christian Furry Fellowship

Bringing the Good News to the Furry Fandom

About Us

We are a group of Christian furries and fans assembled together (since the late 90s) to serve God, encourage one another and make a positive influence on the Furry Fandom at large.

We are committed to seeing authentic faith in the Good News of Jesus not just surviving in the fandom, but thriving to become a genuine source of bountiful community, creativity and friendships both in the Fandom and out.

————————————————————————————————————————————–

The Christian Furry Fellowship is not a church because there are certain “church things” we just cannot and are not equipped to do. We strongly urge everyone to find a local church that teaches properly from the Bible.

The Christian Furry Fellowship is a Christian ministry to the furry fandom. As such, CFF is a safe haven for Christians and non-Christians, furries and those who are not part of the fandom, to learn about and get to know Jesus for themselves, and to experience His forgiveness and love.

We are governed by a set of theological affirmations; in other words, everything we do here is guided in attitude and action by our statements of belief and practice, which in turn are grounded in the Scriptures.

How we work:

We at CFF have the primary focus of making the Lord Jesus and the Gospel known and seen accurately. While God accepts and loves us without regard to how well we do this task, we want to do all we can to show our gratitude toward Him is genuine and lasting. We invite all our brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ to join us as we do God’s will towards the fandom in particular and the world in general.

The Christian Furry Fellowship is a Christian, evangelical, missional and post-denominational organization.

It may seem like a mouthful, but it’s easily broken down into bits that make sense and are easily understood.

First, we are Christians, that itself sets us apart as different from other world religions and faith-systems. Christians are those who have seen been forgiven by God, been born into his family and love,  and serve and trust Jesus. As Christians, we are faithful and conform our lives to the Holy Bible, which produced both the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds – accurate affirmations basic Christian truths telling about God, who He is and what He’s done.

There are many good and godly ministries who would stop with the historic creeds, but the leadership of the Christian Furry Fellowship understands that they were the product of specific controversies of the time. So while the creeds are accurate explanations of Christian belief, they are not comprehensive or exhaustive in their scope. In the case of the Nicene Creed especially, Christians generally rejected it for many years. There are many things in historic, orthodox Christianity that simply are not addressed by the Creeds, and it would be irresponsible to merely mention the historic Creeds and stop at that.

Christian simply means that we have submitted our lives to the leadership of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, secondly we call ourselves evangelical. Despite the baggage that has swirled around that word in recent years, following set of beliefs characterize evangelical Christians.

  • Jesus, fully divine and fully human, is the only full and complete revelation of God and therefore the only Savior.
  • In the death of Jesus on the cross, he took the penalty for our sins and reconciled us to God.
  • Salvation is God’s gift grasped through faith. We contribute nothing to our salvation.
  • Holy Spirit brings a new kind of life, a spiritual rebirth and a new power to live as Jesus did, living properly before God, and reaching out to the poor, sick, and oppressed among people.
  • The Bible is God’s own communication to us written down, and so is fully trustworthy as our final guide to faith and practice.
  • In a future, personal return of Jesus, he will set up the tangible reign of God on Earth.

It is important to share these beliefs so that others may experience God’s salvation and love and may walk in Jesus’ way.

Evangelical simply means that we joyfully share the Good News of Jesus.

Thirdly, the Christian Furry Fellowship is missional. This is just a big word that means we acknowledge, celebrate and obey the command we have from Jesus to go into the world to make more people who love Him, trust Him and obey Him. We are to do this in the best, most culturally relevant ways that we’ve been granted in our place in history. Simply put, out of thankfulness for what we have received from God, we then go out and let others know they can receive the very same gift.  Our aim is to serve Jesus by serving others.

Missional simply means that we actively find ways to present the Good News in ways that our peers and community can understand.

Finally we are post-denominational. We don’t stop at simply being non- or inter-denominational.  Basically, this means that we strive for unity among the different Christian traditions: denominational differences between those firmly within historic Christian belief are not the same thing as sinful, destructive disunity. Because people are limited in their knowledge and perspectives, and because God has decided to work within our limited existence for a time, differences in understanding will arise. These differences are used by God to foster communication and wisdom between groups of Christians that may not feel a need or want to interact. We celebrate our denominations, knowing Christ is glorified the most when we worship and serve through unity in diversity.  We only draw “lines in the sand” where God has clearly demonstrated and affirmed is where he draws His line in the sand.

Post-denominational simply means that while our traditions are important, the unity that comes from a proper understanding of Christ is most important.

We hope that God uses our little ministry outreach to open eyes to the glory of God, open hearts to surrender to Christ and through the Spirit offer open arms to take care of one another in love.

  1. I’m a christian furry and I have been drawing art for a long time and I try to make a movie or comic series inspired by left behind series but in call of duty kinda thing. Well its about anthros plan to enslave all of human kind. Some anthros are Christians, worse jackals that are christians must convert to Anubis worship if not they be put to death. Humans however hate anthros because they’re slaves, the legion X13 are human legion that was formed in post judgment day. Their leader is a cursed human jackal, she has no love for anthros and the oneworld government. Grawn castillo is her name. But she hates both humans and anthros that join the new world order and the Antichrist.

  2. Hi.. I’m in Chicago with my 21 yo son. Can you please tell me where you are meeting tomorrow morning?

    Kindly,

    Jeff Schmidt

    • Hi there,
      Sorry for the delay.

We actually don’t have “meetings” as we are not a church. However we would like to have online Bible studies soon!

      • I’m afraid that people will judge me for being a Christian and on top of that a furry. I have not told my parents ether.

        • Being afraid of judgement for being a Christian can be a valid concern, but I invite you to take these concerns directly to the Savior, Jesus Christ. He knows our worries before we speak them and He understands. I’m glad to know that He doesn’t expect your faith to be perfect at the start, but He is confident that He can grow what faith you have into a great passion if you’ll only give it to Him. Jesus knows that it may be hard sometimes and that we have fears, but just depend on Him and never think you can’t be open and honest with Jesus about your fears. He not only knows about them, but he sincerely cares about them as well.

In regard to your parents, it’s sad that the stigma around the fandom has become so great that individuals feel the need to hide it. The fact that so many herald it as a lifestyle probably doesn’t help that much either. Being a part of the fandom and “being a furry” are simply a specialized version of “wanting to hang out with folks who like my hobby too.” I can’t say if your parents will be supportive, but I do think that scripture suggests we try to maintain a good relationship with our parents and that may mean sharing and being honest where you sometimes are shy. They may not understand or care for your interests, but they are more likely to come around and trust you if you don’t act like you have something to hide from them. Learning to communicate with your parents is good idea and working with them to maintain your safety is important.

Hi there. I am a Christian mother whose lovely 12 year old daughter is a furry. She just told me this week. I am wondering when you might be having Bible studies and also if you need any help with your site and/or outreach program.

  7. I’m a Christian who came out as a furry at the end of January. I’m hoping I find other furries who are in the Christian faith that I can make friends with and discuss certain topics with.

Hey there, feel free to join us on our discord server. You can find a link to it on the home page here.

      • im a furry but i dont have money to get a fursuit

        • Fursuits are certainly expensive. They’re also not some access pass to the fandom either. The majority of participants do not own a fursuit and no one should feel like they can’t be as involved if they don’t have one. The fandom has always been a place of imagination.

  8. Hi, i came across this site and i am wondering about one thing, is being a furry against god? ok maybe not one thing but you see i really wanna become a furry evangilist. yet im not sure if that is possible or not or if its against god. i would like an answer whenever, im not in a hurry or anything. thank you for your time.

    • Hello there, sorry for the delay in replying.

We feel that participating in the furry fandom is not against God, but just another creative outlet that folks use to express their personality. It’s not so different from other mediums, but it certainly draws attention at times. How you define “being a furry” is certainly important. The terminology means something different to each person.

In regard to becoming a furry evangelist, I imagine that can be taken a couple of different ways. If you mean that you’d like to evangelize to furries, well, that’s certainly a good thing to do. Since the fandom has it’s own diverse community and is a subset of the folks Jesus commanded us to reach with the gospel, reaching furries is no different than reaching, say, gamers. It’s just a matter of which interest group you’re serving. Evangelism and fostering discipleship among participants in the furry fandom is a rough summary of our aspirations here. We make no claim to stunning success at this time, but we’re still going and still planning. Hopefully we become more efficient with time.

If you mean you’d like to be someone who uses the furry fandom as a medium for evangelism to all (e.g. someone who speaks in fursuit) I think that God welcomes your imagination given the correct intention. I know of one individual who used to serve as a youth director and loved to teach and interact with his group in fursuit and I’ve always thought it would be great to see more positive interaction coming out of the fandom.

I imagine that most folks complaints are due to the stigma cast on the fandom. The trouble is, the stories folks here are often true, but they don’t represent the whole. Stereotypes are quite harmful which is why it’s good to explain what being a furry is to you. Furthermore, a lot of folks think it’s frivolous–and indeed it is! But I believe God has allowed us room for whimsy. My only concern personally (though what qualification have I to instruct you?) is that if you intend to use the furry fandom as a personal medium to evangelize abroad, it begs the question of why? Is it solely because you think it would be fun or attention grabbing? Or do you see some fundamental reason why it should be helpful? Personally, I plan and intend to enact evangelism using this medium myself, but I also intend to focus on the folks within the culture specifically as a mission field. This is the hope anyway.

  9. I’m a 17 year old furry with non accepting parents wondering “what if there were a church where everyone wore fursuits to service?” Sure this isn’t exactly a literal furry church, but this is the next best thing!

    • Misty, what an interesting question! I doubt your the first person to have this idea and I’m sure you won’t be the last. However, I think while the notion is fun, there does arise a bit of an issue for us to consider.

      What is the motivation?

Do we wonder about this because it’s a fun idea or because we think that somehow we honor God better by attending a church full of fursuiters? I fear that our desire to worship weekly among other fursuiters may actually be a selfish interest which would cause several problems which I’ll briefly comment on here. Lastly I’ll tie them together with a unifying theme.

I’ll begin with a more subtle and lesser one. Most furries don’t have fursuits and if the church is putting a focus on fursuiters, then those who cannot afford one may feel lesser. This is akin to single and celibate individuals who sometimes feel that the church is for wed couples with children.

Another point is that a congregation of fursuiters would also be a congregation full of distracted individuals. Fursuits make the wearer warm and have limited vision. Fursuit watchers might find themselves more caught up with what cute thing their neighbor is doing or wearing. Church is a place to focus on Jesus. You can be yourself at church, but the focus should be on Jesus and Jesus alone.

Finally, I’ll reference some scripture and tie the first two points here together. Having a furry church would not serve to spread the gospel to the unbeliever who walks in. If they came because it was a furry church, they would likely already be there for the wrong reason. If they came in to visit because it was a church, then they’d likely be distracted as well. Even worse, they might even be deterred from following Jesus at all! I invoke (though by some stretch of application) 1 Corinthians 14:22-23

Speaking in tongues, then, is intended as a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is not for unbelievers but for believers. If, therefore, the whole church assembles together and all are speaking in tongues and people who are outsiders or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?

In this passage the author warns the church that if you get carried away in a particular gift that serves no purpose to anyone but yourself, then you’ll fail to edify others. He also points out that if you practice something, even a good thing, in a way that causes the lost person or the unbeliever to feel estranged they might think your just crazy. And that matters! We should hope that when people walk through the doors of the church they feel welcomed and comfortable no matter who they are if they be black, white, brown, brony, furry, gamer, biker or otherwise.

Finally, I’ll close with one more point. Why would we desire to serve in a church that is composed solely of furries and fursuiters in the first place? Is it because we feel that it is better to be surrounded by like-minded folks that we have something in common with? Well perhaps, but moreso I think we imagine it would be fun. And thinking that joining a “furry church” would make us more unified as a body seems to be a fallacy when we recognize that the church (and denominations for that matter) are exactly what was just described: a gathering of individuals unified by a love for Christ and a desire to follow him. Doesn’t that sound like a group of “like-minded folks who have something in common? They all have a love for Christ! Rather than trying to create a space for us to have church with folks who are more like us, I think it’s better if we celebrate Christ’s love with a diverse group and focus more on what unifies us as Christians don’t you? Jesus is common ground enough.

Hi! I’m a 21 Christian furry and I’m so excited to see a group for Christian furries! I definitely feel a LOT more normal and like these two pieces are now able to fit together! Do you do Bible studies or ever hold any events?
